IBS organises Eighth International Conference on Economics & Finance

IBS Bangalore, a Bangalore-based business school, is holding its Eighth International Conference on Economics and Finance with the
theme ‘Governance and Wellbeing’. The two-day conference, being held at the IBS campus on Kanakapura Road, was inaugurated by Prof. M V Rajeev Gowda, Chairperson, Centre for Public Policy, IIM Bangalore.
In his Inaugural address, Prof. Gowda threw light on the working scenario in India and USA, and pointed out how the ecosystem in USA was conductive to economic growth and innovation.
“Governance is the ecosystem that nurtures quality and productivity, which in turn leads to wellbeing,” Prof. Gowda said. “Growth in GDP must be coupled with constructive thinking to bring about the actual wellbeing.”
Talking about corporate responsibility, he said, “Every business should play by the rules of the game and not indulge in corrupt practices.” He believed that such conferences enable dissemination of ideas and findings amongst researchers.
In her welcome address, Dr. Lata Chakravarthy, Director of IBS Bangalore, said, “A strong research focus enables faculty members at IBS Bangalore to bring distilled knowledge to the classroom and promote critical thinking skills and analytical orientation among the students.”
Conference Coordinator Dr. Dennis Rajakumar provided the overview of the conference. Over 55 papers, on topics ranging from Globalization and Wellbeing to International Accounting and Taxation were shortlisted.
